Final Problem statement of the Junkyard Wars

"Construct a pedal boat with a ball launching mechanism fitted on it."

  •          The dimensions of the pedal boat should not exceed 6ft × 4 ft.
  •          The Boat should able to carry two people, one to pedal and steer, one to launch the ball.
  •          Launching mechanism should be able to shoot balls to the range of 20 -30 ft.
  •          Steering mechanism should be present.
  •          Braking is not necessary.

 

You will be allowed to work on lathe, drilling machine, welding and fitting shop. Suitable assistance will be provided for welding. Any extra material from outside other then the provided can’t be used. However all the necessary tools will be provided.

The Final round will take place in a swimming pool of 25m by 15m with a maximum depth of 8 ft and a minimum depth of 4 ft. All necessary safety measures will be taken care of.

The judging criteria will be based on the following factors :

  • Speed with which the boat can travel
  • Maneuverability of the boat
  • Range of the launching mechanism
  • Accuracy of the launching mechanism
  • Other details pertaining to the final round will be disclosed later.

 

You are required to submit a rough design of your car on 29/2/2008 by 9 AM. If your design is not feasible or you are not able to design you can ask for the model design from the managers but the teams will be awarded negative points for this. Teams have to positively report on 28/2/2008 at 6 PM at flagpost in front of administrative block.
