Junkyard Wars

Ever saw that sculpture hidden in the unmarked stone, ever thought of making mountains out of mole hills? Welcome to Junkyard Wars. Unleash that creative beast in you to build a palace from stones, to transform junk to a wonder.

Come home, wander through the so called useless labyrinth, think in the lines, of the lines and transform rudimentary concepts into working prototypes. It’s your common sense that matters beyond everything else and that evolves an Einstein out of a common man.

Pattern of the Event

The event will comprise of two online prelims and an on campus event. Each round is eliminative.

Online Round 1 ( Feb 8 - Feb 11,2008)

1. It will consist of 15-20 descriptive questions which should be answered in 2-3 lines.
2. Time alloted for the round will be 30 minutes.
3. Only one submission is permitted per team.
4. Once the answers are submitted,no modification will be allowed.
5. Questions will based to test common sense and knowledge in basic engineering.
6. This round will be open for 3 days.

 

Online Round 2 ( Feb 14 - Feb 21,2008)

1. The round will consist of case studies and situations.
2. Practical Problem solving skills will be tested.
3. The contestants are expected to provide feasible solutions in maximum of 50 lines and submit within 3 days.
4. Other rules pertaining to round 1 apply here.

 

On-Campus Event ( Feb 28 - Mar 2,2008)

1. Six teams will be shortlisted for this stage.
2. The problem statement will be given on the evening of Feb 28,2008.
3. Teams are expected to report by 5 pm on Feb 28,2008 to one of the managers.Late teams will be disqualified.
4. Teams will be permitted to build the models on Feb 29 and March 1,2008.
5. Testing of models will take place on morning of March 2,2008.
6. Finals will take place on afternoon of March 2,2008.

Rules and Regulations

1. Each team should consist of 5 members only.
2. Each team will be provided with a member for their assistance, but ideas have to be original.
3. Non working models will not be allowed to be showcased.
4. All the team members must be present during the finals.
5. Decisions of the judges is final.
6. Junkyard wars is not responsible for any loss in property,injury and delays caused by participants during the event.
7. Other instructions will be provided on Day 0.
8. Junkyardwars reserves the right to eliminate the participants in case of any misconduct.
