Day 1:

 

Problem statement:

 

To construct a roller coaster ride.

To design and construct a working model of a purely gravity based roller coaster on the spot without using any external form of energy within the given time frame using the materials provided such as hose pipes,wooden sticks,glue,tape,twine etc.

 

Rules and regulations:

1)Size restrictions-the base of the coaster must fit within a square of 1m x 1m.The maximum height of the coaster can be 1 metre.

2)The model should be designed for a glass marble which should start at the starting point and come to rest in a designated container at the end of the ride.

3)magnets,springs,electricity and other forms of external energy cannot be used.

 

Evaluation criteria:

 

Roller coasters will be judged based on three categories:

a. Technical Merit

b. Theme and Creativity

c. Most exciting to ride

d. Time taken for completing the model

e. Total distance of the track covered
