About NIT Trichy:
National Institute of Technology, Trichy is one of the premier engineering institutions of India, which has been a centre of excellence since its inception in 1964. With the brightest of students and faculty from all over the country, it has a truly national character. Having nurtured young minds for decades now, we believe that learning goes beyond classrooms and taking a step forward in this direction, NIT Trichy is privileged to present to you the fifth edition of its annual International level Technical Festival - Pragyan’09.
About Pragyan:

Pragyan has for the past four years been a huge success in bringing the brightest minds from across the country and abroad together, providing them with a platform to exhibit their talents. A plethora of events spanning the various engineering disciplines, in addition to the many management events puts to test the creativity and innovation of the best minds of the country.
Pragyan has also been a great tool to dissolve the barriers between the industry and institute as prominent industrialists and scientists have come down and played an active role in the festival.
This edition, we look to take the festival to a higher level as we incorporate among several new features a theme, as well as a Panel Discussion and Exhibitions.

About the Theme:
“We have seen the future. Envisioned it. And of course, we have dreamt of its various aspects and prospects. We, at Pragyan, however, are not content. This time, we have set ourselves a goal; one of shaping the future we wish to live in. And our emphasis is on a future that is rich in technology and is in complete harmony with the world about us. As for the future itself, we will not just foresee it. We will enable it.”
Technology is a tool like no other. With the power to make or break all that is existent, it is the single strong pillar that mankind clings to for its evolution. Pragyan, this year, will hope to use our knowledge for more than raw improvisation of the tool. With a direction set in our minds and a dedication etched in our hearts, we will strive to utilize this tool and mould a future that will have in it a place for every individual.We hope to create a society that is free of all sorts of differences and will not be advancing the cream at the cost of the crop.
It does not stop with just an advanced future. The earth, in all its resplendent beauty, will not be left behind. As the technocrats of the country, we feel our debt to nature and Pragyan will address issues ranging from the global environmental scenario to the local energy crises. The relevance of this future that we wish to create is obvious for a fest such as ours. Dreams are what we need most today, for they will be the reality of tomorrow.
