Introduction

14th February | 10:00-13:00 Hrs | A12 Hall

In the words of the noted American economist Ted Levit -

"Just as energy is the basis of life itself, and ideas the source of innovation, so is innovation the vital spark of all human change, improvement and progress".

MorphoSEZ wants to provide you a platform to do just that, imagine and engineer. You have to design and build a scale model of a self sufficient Special Economic Zone complete with civic amenities and provision for efficient service systems.Let your thoughts flow, let the genius in you be known, let the undying human prowess to create, cast a halo all around. This event requires basics of town planning, landscaping, etc. If you have it in you to plan a township, or Special economic zone, for that matter, even the basics of town planning is enough, so the opportunity is knocking at your doorstep.

The presentation time for the participants is 15 mins and Q&A session would be of 5 mins.

Problem Statement

Build a model to implement the idea of the SEZ and try to make the plan as self sufficient on energy as possible.

Land under consideration:

  • Area: 2000 acres.
  • Peninsular landscape.
  • Gently sloping land from North West to South East.
  • Perennial River flows through as shown in the diagram.

Soil and Rock strata:

The soil strata of the region close to river is having a impervious layer of rocks having sedimentary nature, 20m below the layer of clayey soil. Also the soil of the region is of very disturbing nature. The soil tends to deform easily in the region around the river (roughly 200m on both sides throughout the length of the river). The overall area is covered with layer of red soil on top and has average depth of 4 meters. The rock strata near the river also have a case of multiple fractures and the alignment of fractures is in horizontal direction.

Abstract:

The abstract should include the plans for as to how you are going to build up the SEZ and also various reasons as to why are you suggesting these strategies. For ex –

  • Why the port or docks are situated in that particular area?
  • Why the residential area is located there?
  • How a particular kind of industry would be beneficial?
  • Why have the power stations been situated in this manner?
  • How this kind of drainage pattern is going to help in transportation?
  • Why the rail tracks have been laid in this place?
  • Suppose you use some new technology then how is it going to help?
  • Where should the free trade zone be located?
  • How the geographical advantages has been put to use?
  • Why cant these industries be not located here?
  • How the airway traffic and the bulk carriers can be put to maximum usage, etc.

Upload the abstract (ppt /doc/pdf) explaining about plans for the SEZ in detail in the registration form for the event. Deadline for uploading your abstracts is 27th January.

Abstract should include:

  •  Description of constructions to be done.
  •  How you wish to transmute the given landscape into a special economic zone.
  •  Description of any latest existing technology you would like to implement.

Font size to be used in the abstract- 12.

The abstract should not exceed 6 A4 pages.
