Preliminary stage is now complete. The qualifying participants have been informed by e-mail.Finals:
On-Campus with two rounds.
- A freestyle T-Shirt designing round.
- A poster designing round on a topic that we would provide on the spot.
All decisions by the judges on selection of participants are final and binding. The use of profanity/vulgarity in images will lead to instant disqualification. All images used must be property of the participants. The use of LOLcats will be condoned.
[Note: This is for participants in the On-campus category. If you are applying under the Web Subs category, please move to the next tab.]
- So, what software would we be using?
- All the designers have to work with Photoshop. The version provided at the final round would be either Creative Suite 3 or 4.
- Cool, so, can we bring our own images?
- No, we would be giving you a stockpile of renders which would more than satisfy your craving.
- But what about brushes and fonts?
- The finalists would be asked to mail (a maximum of) 3 brushes and 10 fonts each. The brushes should be compatible with CS3 or lower to avoid possible version issues.
- Are graphics tablets and other hardware allowed in the finals?
- You are free to bring your own. We provide a few on request (made in advance).
- Oh wait, why are we designing a tee for Pragyan?! You guys do have your own design teams, right?
- We certainly do. As the prelims are held online, we need something to verify the originality of the submissions. Ergo, this. Oh yeah, and if the tee shirts are actually worthy of praise, we would print the best shirt with, of course, due royalties to its creator.
- I'm an excellent designer but you guys may not like my style! What now? Don't worry about it. As varied as the genres submitted may be, we only look at the creativity, content and coherence.
Based on requests by a few participants, these were considered. Based on practicality and demand, the final decision stands thus:
- Provision of graphic tablets to finalists. - 2 graphic tablets will be available. Request must be made in advance.
- Use of Adobe Illustrator for design in the finals. (It is acceptable to use it in the prelims) - AI cannot be used in the finals.
- Addition of an on-the-spot preliminary phase during Pragyan. - An on-the-spot round will be held before the finals.
