Flipped Logic
Cash prizes worth 10000 INR to be won!
Tired of the mundane life and routine stuff?
Here is a chance to resurrect the waning grey cells. Be a livewire and contrive to win accolades. An event which challenges you to bring the logic out of simple devices. What we ask for, is a mechanical device with apt representations for binary inputs, to implement a Boolean function. The ingenuity and perspicacity are tested to the extreme. The winner is one who can make it smart and yet very simple.

Problem Statement
Build a model to implement a given boolean function without using any form of electrical or chemical energy, and by implementing all the associated gates.
The Boolean Function to be implemented is : Y=AS'+BS
First round:
Online submission of the abstract should contain the following:
- a clear specification of the output and input used for the logic
- a brief note on how your model works (diagrammatic explanations recommended)
The last date of submission of this theoretical abstract is the 20th February 2010.
Selected contestents will be intimated by mail.
Logic must be simple, innovative and most importantly must produce the correct output for all combo of inputs! All the Best!
Judging Criteria
- Design aesthetics and innovativeness
- Accuracy
- Simplicity in logic and resetting time
- No electrical connection will be provided and use of battery, cells, etc. is strictly prohibited.
- Use of pre-fabricated toy parts, LEGO kits, etc is not allowed.
- Maximum size - 4ft X 4 ft
- Tables and chairs to be provided on prior request.
- Any other equipment will be provided by organizers subject to prior approval.
- Maximum of three members per team.
- Organizers reserve the right to inspect the model in case any discrepancy arises, with respect to its compliance with the problem statement.
- Combustible, inflammable substances should not be used.
- Setup time of 20 mins will be given. 10 mins time will be given to display outputs corresponding to all sets of inputs.
- Distinct functioning of all the given gates is necessary.
- Input and output must be well defined before their models come up for presentation.
In case the above rules are not adhered to, points will be deducted or participants may even be disqualified.
