…and a giant leap for Teddy kind! This is where it gets cool. 4 teddies were blasted to the edge of space as part of a science project by the University of Cambridge and a local school. The flight lasted for around 3 hours and it was said that the furry creatures could withstand temperatures of negative 53 degrees.

Young kids were involved in making the space suits for the Teddy-nauts. The whole project was intended to engage local children in science and engineering.
“This was a really fun thing to do. The best bit was when we set the balloon off with the bears. The CU Spaceflight team made us really involved and we helped assemble all the equipment.” said pupil Aiyana Stead age 12.
No real bears or animals were harmed during this experiment and neither was any child deprived of his/her furry friend. The bears were specially procured for this.
