C3 is an event that aims to bring out the automobile designer in you.

 

A platform for you to showcase your vision of a dream car, what you would want to see on the roads in the future and discuss it with the professionals who actually made it big with their own concepts and ideas.

 

So Go Ahead. Let your imagination run wild! Invoke randomness upon thee and let your designing skill loose and come up with a super car that can would the roads of the future.

PHASE I:

 

  • Participants are required to bring forth any innovative concept for a four-wheeled vehicle.
     
  • It can range from designing a new aerodynamic spoiler to a whole new car which is left to the participants’ discretion.  

 

 

PHASE II:

 

  • Participants are required to provide the most appropriate solution to the problem put forth by a reputed auto maker. The problem statement will be put up soon!!
     
  • The presentation should include an outline of the concept, external appearance, highlights on specific and unique features incorporated in the concept, and a general layout of the vehicle that accounts for the placement of the essentials(engine, transmission etc.)

 

 

There will be separate winners for the solution of problem statement and one's own concept car.

 

DEFINITION

 

Develop a four wheeler towards providing an affordable rural transportation solution. As a Rural Utility Vehicle (RUV) it should be easily transformed from people carrier 10-15 Seating Capacity to goods carrier of over a tonne, max speed 40kmph and could be serviced locally and cheaply. It should be adapted to run on green fuels like bio diesel, gobar gas or electricity including solar power. Provision for manual pedaling incase the vehicle runs out of fuel during its course is a plus. With the above features, it should be economical, environment friendly and have robust design.

 

DETAILS

 

RUV to eventually evolve into an ultra-functional, durable and versatile  utility vehicle fit for commercial and private use in the most demanding and rugged conditions.

 

RUV to be designed and built to a professional grade standard, with a design that uses the highest quality materials and components. From its innovative chassis design (immensely strong, fully-welded steel frame) meaning the structural strength of the RUV to be better than the mini trucks plying on Indian roads to its heavy duty four-wheel adjustable independent suspension, to be designed to be safe, rugged and extremely dependable.

 

AGRIBUSINESS / FARMING

 

RUV to be ideal for all aspects of work on the property. Tough, dependable and extremely reliable The needs of the agricultural and livestock industries are as diverse as their operations. From spraying to fence maintenance, and everything in between, there is a real need for an all-purpose vehicle that can get users around and allow jobs to be done efficiently and safely.

 

RUV’s low amortization rate and low fuel consumption should make it an attractive and affordable utility vehicle, especially since all parts could be repaired or replaced in the field developing rural skills and enterprise. ATVs are a major contributor to injury and death on farms in developed countries like Australia.. The RUV’s tough steel welded frame and low centre of gravity should ensure unparalleled safety.Whether it's cattle ranching, spraying or simply land management, the RUV to be utility vehicle one will ever need. 

 

A finished RUV should not cost more than Rs.1.25 Lakh which is the cost of an average Jugaad. RUV also could be used inter-alia for promoting eco-tourism as an ambulance with stretcher and first aid box to give immediate medical relief to the rural populace.

 

 

 

  • Maximum of two members per team. One entry per team only.
     
  • Participants selected for the presentation round are required to carry a bonafide certificate or identity card of their institute.
     
  • The duration of presentation is not to exceed 5 minutes for Phase I, and 3 minutes for Phase II
     
  • The presentation shall be followed by a question and answer session.
     
  • Any design software (3DsMax, Catia, Pro-E, Rhino, Alias and Solid Works only) or hand drawn sketches may be used for the presentation.
     
  • For the preliminary stage an abstract not exceeding one A4 page (std. font sizing) along with the preliminary / basic design of your concept and the solution to the questionnaire should be submitted, based on which the participants will be shortlisted.
     
  • The abstracts must be mailed to  ( "c3@pragyan.org" )
     
  • Shortlisted participants will receive the automaker problem statement by mail.
     
  • They are required to bring atleast 2 hard copies of the design; a soft copy of the presentation and the solution to the above mentioned problem statement for the event. The hard copy is expected to include any supporting textual content with the design.
     
  • Kindly note that the images supporting the design (if any) have to be in any of the following standard image formats (jpeg, bmp, gif, png, tif only.)
     
  • Participants are to note that judge's decisions are final and binding.
     

 

 

 

Judging Criteria

 

  • Unique primary function / concept of the vehicle
     
  • Innovative features incorporated
     
  • Practical relevance
     
  • Aesthetic appeal
     
  • Effectiveness of the solution to the problem statement.
     
  • Solution to the questionnaire
     
  • Apart from these, three different fields of Judge's discretion will be revealed on the spot(if any) and a separate winner for on the spot from Judge's own selection apart from main winners can also be declared.
