Radar and Antenna Systems

Our nation’s prolific spacefaring owes a great amount of debt to what are essentially the most basic components in the greater machine of surveillance and communication technologies: the Radar and the Antenna. Not only are they vital for space, but also for air transport and logistics, basic communication, geological studies and military use.

The ISRO - Radar and Antenna Systems workshop conducted by ISRO in association with Pragyan, aims to verse you with the fundamentals of these systems, and also help you comprehend the more sophisticated variations that they’re also a part of.

Following topics are planned to be covered during Radar Systems Session:

  • Introduction to Radar

  • Need for Radars

  • Radar Invention

  • Principles of operation

  • Radar Parameters

  • Types of Radars

  • Frequency bands

  • Applications

  • Antennas

  • Transmitters

  • Receivers

  • Radar Signal processing

  • Radar Cross section

  • Radar Range equation

  • Synthetic Aperture Radar

  • Radars in ISRO

  • Tracking Radar

  • Multiple Object Tracking Radars

  • Conclusion

Following topics are planned to be covered during Antenna Systems Session:

  • Introduction to spacecraft antennas

  • Spacecraft antennas

  • Challenges in antenna designs

  • Test & Evaluation
