SCIFI OVER WIFI

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Ever wondered what the world would be like if dinosaurs hadn't become extinct? Ever imagined a situation with robots taking control over the world? Now is the right time and right opportunity for the science enthusiasts like you to exhibit your hidden talents and interest in science fiction. Come and participate in SciFi over Wifi which helps you give shape to the brainstorming ideas you always dreamt of. So hurry up and start digging into your creative minds and come up with a mind boggling piece of science fiction!

FORMAT:

Round 1: Online round

• Word limit: 250
• Three images be will be released on 27^th October 2017 at 10pm.
• Participants need to choose one image and draft a science fiction story based on the chosen image.
• Participants must submit their story along with their chosen image to scifioverwifi@pragyan.org on or before 11:59 pm, 1^st November 2017.
• The participants must include their name, roll number, and phone number within the document.
• Subject of the mail and name of the document should be ImageNumber_TitleOfTheStory.

Round 2: Stage round

This round will take place on 3rd November 2017 at 6 pm in the A2 hall. Participants will be given an image on the spot and 3 minutes to ideate and prepare a science fiction story. They will have to go on stage and narrate the story to the judges. They will be given 5 minutes to narrate the story.

RULES

• Story should not exceed more than 250 words(Round 1).
• Plagiarism is strictly not allowed.
• Story should strictly adhere to the chosen theme.
• Participants will be given only 3 minutes to prepare for the story (Round 2).
• Participants should not take more than 5 minutes to narrate the story (Round 2).

FAQs:

1) How many entries can one participant submit?
Only one entry per participant is allowed.

2) In what file format should the story be submitted?
The story must be submitted as word document (.doc or .docx)

3) How do I submit the story?
Participants must submit their story along with their chosen image to scifioverwifi@pragyan.org on or before 11:59pm, 1^st November 2017.​ The participants must include their name, roll number, and phone number within the document. Subject of the mail and name of the document should be ImageNumber_TitleOfTheStory.

4) On what grounds is my entry liable to disqualification?
If the story is much longer than the word limit.
If the story is found to be plagiarized.
If you submit your story after deadline.
If you don’t mention your roll number and chosen image number.

5) How and when will shortlisted participants for Round 2 be notified?
The shortlisted participants will be intimated via email and SMS.

6) Is there any participation certificates?
No, there is no certification for participation.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

The stories will be judged based on creativity, ideas put forward and their scientific plausibility.
