Code Venatic

Team Pragyan brings you Code Venatic, an event that lets you put your logical and innovative mind to work. Let loose your programming skills in this unconventional coding contest where you generate the source code from the given executable file in the least number of lines.

Prize Money INR 20,000

Date: 14th March 2020

Type: On-Campus

Round 1 - Preliminary Round:

  • It will be a pen and paper MCQ test. Questions will test knowledge in C/C++, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Logical reasoning.

  • This round is eliminative.

Round 2 - Reverse Coding With a Minimum Number of Lines:

  • Top 10 teams from Round 1 qualify for this round.

  • In this round, participants will be provided with an executable file for which they have to find the source code and the code should be as short as possible(minimum number of lines).

  • Each team can have a maximum of two members.

  • In round 2 only C and C++ languages are allowed.

  • Third-party libraries are not allowed.

  • Disassembler tools will not be provided for the final round. Participants will have to rely on their analytic skills to reverse-engineer the source code of the given executable file.

  • In case of discrepancies, the decisions of the managers are final and binding.

Judging criteria:

Round 1:

  • The number of correct answers.

Round 2:

  • The number of test cases cleared.

  • In case of ties, the number of lines used to write the code.

  • In case of further ties, time complexity will be considered.

Problem statement will be given when the event starts.

FAQs:

1) What parameters will be considered in case of a tie in the number of test cases passed?
If there is a tie, the number of lines in the code written will be considered (fewer lines being given the higher priority). If the tie still continues, time complexity will be checked.

2) Are participants allowed to use reference materials?
No. Participants shall not use any reference material.
